An original cast iron cage-style clamp for a Griffens Patent jar, large mouth size. Looks brand new, but probably an unused old-stock item, with all black paint intact. Attracts a magnet. Fits most sizes of Griffen jars that take the standard large mouth lid. Note, to determine whether your jar is a Griffens or a Ludlow, check the length of the neck ramps. A Griffens jar has long neck ramps, whereas a Ludlow jar has short neck ramps (so short that they appear almost round).
