A reverse-embossed 1858 quart in a rare color. This medium Citron or yellow-olive quart is embossed on the front: MASONS PATENT NOV 30TH 1858 and on the reverse heel: U.G.Co. Sparkling condition without damage or stains. Normal flaking of the ground rim edge. Heavy glass especially in the base. The color transitions to a pale green in the neck area. Base: 10. A fantastic old colored Mason.

An extremely rare quart stoneware patented closure jar. Impressed on the front as shown: PATENTED OCT, 18th, 1859 G.P. REED, PATENTEE INDIANA, PA. Fine condition throughout with one thin flake on the base heel edge. Otherwise no chips, cracks, or repairs. Overall height is 7 inches. The jar used a cork closure covered with wax, with the specially-designed groove intended to supposedly ease the removal of the cork. Extremely rare or singular.
