An aqua 4-gallon promotional jar made for display at the Philadelphia Centennial Expostion of 1876. Embossed on one side: "MASONS IMPROVED CFJCo", and on the other side: "MANUFACTURED AT THE WHITNEY GLASS WORKS GLASSBORO, NJ". Very bold embossing and nice glass character with no damage outside of one exception. There is a ding in the mouth as shown. Original massive glass lid with CFJCo monogram, and a replica metal band made by Phil Robinson. The base of the jar is embossed: "PATENTED MAY 10TH 1870". Measures 18-1/2 inches tall overall, and 8-1/2 inches in diameter. A fantastic old piece, and one of only 2 known from this mold with Improved closure.

A light yellow green or "vaseline" colored Midget Pint embossed: "MASONS PATENT NOV 30TH 1858". Clean glass with one small round 1/8 inch surface flake on the heel. There is a slight trace of content deposit inside. The edge of the ground mouth has flakes, dings, and bruises all around. Comes with a good early lugged midget cap. The base is unmarked. An unusual and appealing colored midget pint.

An aqua pint stopper jar embossed: "Wm L HALLER CARLISLE Pa". smooth base and a heavy applied ring collar mouth. Comes with the rare correct original smallest size 2-inch cast iron Willoughby stopple in good shape as shown. The lettering on top is all readable and some traces of the original black paint still remain. The original sheet metal covering remains on the bottom of the stopple, with some normal rust by very solid. Original sealing gasket and a perfect fit to the mouth of the jar. The jar is in fine shape with good embossing and no damage or stains, with the exception of one small flake on the outer edge of the mouth.

Comes with the scarce correct original heavy coil-shaped iron wire clamp, and the correct original glass lid with square center depression. The glass lid has some amber swirling. Base: "3". This is the scarcest of the 3 versions of this series, and is a beautiful example.

An aqua quart odd-closured jar embossed: "WHITMORES PATENT" with plated-out lettering below that. This is the extremely scarce small-mouth version. Sparkling glass without damage or stains. Excellent ground rim with very little nicking. Correct original glass lid with high fins, with the original seal breaker notch molded into the lower edge. The lid has one undulation (unfilled area from the manufacturing) along the bottom edge, and one thin flake on the side of the ramp. Correct original clamp. The clamps for these jars come in both a brass version and the less common iron wire version, and this one is iron. Base: unmarked.
