Closure: original matching glass lid with 1886 patent date, and original 3-piece iron clamp
Appearance: Sparkling glass with a beautiful heavy whittled effect all over. Has some manufacturer's scuffing around the shoulder (as do all known examples of this jar).
Condition: roughness and flaking of the ground mouth
Embossing: strong
Base: "8"
Age: late 1800's
Availability: scarce especially with this degree of glass character
