A rare aqua quart embossed on the front "THE CHIEF" and on the reverse with a script "K". Shiny glass in good shape with some light scratches but no chips or cracks. Good ground rim with very little flaking. On the base is embossed a mold number "4" encircled by "PAT NOV 29 1870". The metal cap is an older replica made of old metal that looks good on the jar. The base heel edge of the jar displays a considerable amount of crude surface roughness of unknown cause. A very scarce early jar that has rarely been seen for sale.
