An aqua quart embossed in a circular arrangement: "CF SPENCERS IMPROVED JAR PATd 1868". Comes with a closure consisting of a sheet iron cap and pivoting brass clamp that is impressed: "P.M. HINMAN PAT APd FOR". Sparkling condition with good embossing, seedy glass character and a nice light whittled effect. The ground rim has minor flaking. The iron cap has some nibbling along the lower edge as shown. Base: a single raised dot.
