An aqua half gallon that is profusely embossed in 6 lines of heavily-raised block lettering: "HAINES's IMPROVED 'NE PLUS ULTRA' PATd APRIL 21ST 1868 MCH 1TH 1870 NOV 2D 1875". Shiny glass with a nice light whittled effect. Correct original glass lid (has a spot of haze on top of the lid) and original wire clamp. The jar has no damage including a perfect applied mouth. There is a small open bubble on the inside. Base: "PUTNAM GLASS WORKS ZANESVILLE O".
